Roger Ashton-Griffiths is an English actor, screenwriter and film director who portrayed Abraham Appleby in the first season of the BBC and FX original drama, Taboo.


Roger Ashton-Griffiths graduated from Lancaster University (BMus) and the University of East London (MA Fine Art), and began his career as a singer with English National Opera at the London Coliseum.

He has appeared in numerous high-profile films, including Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm and Brazil, A Knight's Tale, Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York, Roman Polanski's Pirates, Peter Greenaway's The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Olivier Dahan's Grace of Monaco.

He has also worked extensively in television, including Margaret and The Tudors.

Roger Ashton-Griffiths is but one of the several actor working on Taboo who had roles on the HBO series, Game of Thrones (2011). The others are Oona Chaplin, Jonathan Pryce, Mark Gatiss, Lucian Msamati, Jefferson Hall, Tim Plester and Nicholas Blane.
